Paris, France : Fe'ofa'aki 'Epenisa, Tonga's first female Olympic boxer, competed in the Women's 60kg Preliminary round on 27 July in the Olympic Games, at the Rolland Garros in Paris, France. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Team Tonga joined the grand opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics on Friday, 26 July, and were onboard one of the 85 boats carrying 6,800 athletes 6km along the River Seine towards the Eiffel Tower. Flagbearers were swimmer, Alan Uhi, and boxer, Fe'ofa'aki 'Epenisa. Alan and Fe'ofa'aki completed their competitions during the weekend, while Noelani Day and Maleselo Fukofuka will have their heats on 3 August. Premium content -

Nuku'alofa, Tonga : The damage assessment on Tonga's domestic submarine fibre-optic cable will be delayed by at least a week, while the repair ship has stopped in Fiji, Tonga Cable Ltd said today. The ship was supposed to depart yesterday and arrive in Tonga today to assess the damage to the cable that blacked out on 29 June. Premium content -

Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Tonga’s first female Olympic boxer Fe’ofa’aki ‘Epenisa (28) aka Aki, has arrived in France to represent Tonga at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. She will compete in the women’s 60kg category, on 27 July, 04:18 pm, Paris time (Sunday 28 July, 3:18am, Tonga time). Aki's journey in boxing started in her last year of college in Texas, USA, but boxing is in her Vava'u blood. -
