Communities affected by volcanic ash from last year’s eruption of Hunga-Tonga Hunga-Ha’apai volcano will benefit from improved access to safe and hygienic drinking water as a result of a USD $50,000 (TOP 116,000) grant from The Coca-Cola Foundation to the Tonga Community Development Trust. “It is critical for our communities to ensure the water they are drinking from tanks is clean and safe,” says TCDT Executive Director, Sione Fakaosi.

Business and households’ purchasing power are declining, states the National Reserve Bank of Tonga, while stressing the importance of price stability in the short-term as it moves to strengthen the monetary policy framework that seeks to better control inflation, and build the resilience of the financial sector, promote macroeconomic stability and support economic growth recovery. Bank of South Pacific Tonga Limited (BSP) today, Friday 10 March, 2023, announced a Net Profit after Tax of T$13.4 million pa'anga for the financial year ending 31 December, 2022. BSP Tonga Country Head Marcellina Rose Wolfgramm-Haapai said, “The Net Profit after Tax for FY2022 was 13.4% above the 2021 performance and achieved from improved Operating Income.

The total electricity tariff will increase by 10.5%from the current 73.04 seniti per kWh to 80.71 seniti per kWh, from 1 July 2021, following the approval by the Competent Authority of an increase in the regulated price of diesel fuel. The Electricity Tariff is regulated by the Electricity Act and administered by the Electricity Commission.

The Bank South Pacific Tonga Limited made a net profit after income tax of $9.881 million pa'anga for the year ending 31 December 2020, the Directors declared in a key disclosure statement summary today. This compared to a profit of $11.155 million in 2019. Net Operating Income declined during the year 2020 under COVID-19 restrictions.

Tonga Power Ltd. announced its lowest electricity tariffs in 14 years, as diesel prices continue to drop during the CoViD-19 pandemic. A 16.4% reduction in the tariff will last for three months from 1 July 2020 unless otherwise reviewed.

Tonga Power Ltd. announced an electricity tariff reduction of 12.2%, due to a drop in global diesel prices. The reduced tariffs, starting today April 1, are further enhanced by a government lifeline subsidy on the first 100kWh. The new tariff schedules are published here in Tongan and English. Tonga Communications Corporation (TCC) will be providing special relief mobile packages and bonus data, along with other initiatives to ensure all TCC customers are supported during the unprecedented CoViD-19 National Lock Down, the company announced on March 27. TCC CEO Timote Katoanga urged everyone to follow Tongan Government guidelines on Lock Down Level Four to limit and prevent the spread of CoViD-19 across Tonga.
