Moana Pasifika announced today that they will not play the Chiefs this month in Nuku'alofa. The team have been forced to relocate the fixture to Pukekohe due to a number of logistical challenges. Moana Pasifika CEO Debbie Sorensen said, “It’s sad to say that we can’t make it happen [in Tonga] this time.”

This year’s squad features strong representation from both Samoa and Tonga, with 17 Samoan and 13 Tongan players selected. The Tongan contingent includes six locally based athletes, four of whom have previously represented the national Lofa women’s team.

With 12 already qualified after RWC 2023, 12 more teams will qualify in 2025. For the Pacific, in August-September 2025 the best three teams of the Pacific Nations Cup 2025, other than already-qualified Fiji and Japan, will punch their tickets to RWC 2027.
