
Team Tonga will compete across eight sports and 20 medal events at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games from 23 July to 2 August 2026. The Tonga Sports Association and National Olympic Committee (TASANOC) has announced the team, noting that wo team sports, Women's Netball and Women's 3x3 Basketball secured their places at the Games through qualification pathways.
“Their achievement reflects the continued development and growing competitiveness of Tongan sport at the international level,” stated Chef de Mission, Roman Caihu and TASANOC SG-CEO, Netina latu Vea, who thanked the Government of Tonga through the Ministry of Internal Affairs for its ongoing support of sport development, high-performance programmes and most importantly financially supporting this campaign.
“This partnership continues to provide opportunities for Tongan athletes to compete and excel on the regional and international stage,” TASANOC stated.
Team Tonga includes some outstanding individual athletes to watch.
The Auckland-based Women's bowler Milika Nathan was the Women’s Singles World Champion at the World Bowls Champion of Champions 2024 held in Auckland.
In Athletics, the champion Tongan thrower 'Ata Maama Tuʻutafaiva won gold in the Women’s Shot Put at the Polynesian Championships this year.
Upcoming youngster Penisimani Ta’eiloa (Toloa College) shone at the Oceania Athletics Championships 2026 taking gold in the Under-20 shot put with a championship record throw of 18.51 metres.
in Judo, Paula Monta secured silver in Senior Men +100kg division, at the Oceania Open 2026.
Swimmers Finau Lino Ohuafi (training in Australia) and Vaoahi Afu (Malolo Swim Club) and are both Tongan national record-holders.
Boxer Joshua Tonga and Weightlifters Joshua Uikilifi Jr. and Sikoti Manumu’a Jr. are set to represent Tonga in Glasgow.
