Tongan-born professional boxer, Nailini Helu received her first world ranking at the week, 9 November 2024, when the IBF declared her 6th in the Light Heavyweight division IBF world ranking.

The Tonga Sports Association and National Olympic Committee (TASANOC) is hosting a training workshop this week to develop safe practices to protect athletes and ensure an inclusive, safe, and respectful environment for sports in Tonga.

Team Tonga swimmer, Noelani Day, and sprinter, Maleselo Fukofuka, completed their events on Saturday 3 August, at the Paris24 Olympics. Noelani finished third in her heat, in the 50m Women's Freestyle at the Paris Aquatics Centre, while Maleselo recorded a personal best time in the Men's 100m sprint at the Stade de France. Tonga's four Olympians have all now completed their events at Paris24.

Tonga’s National Football team, the Tu’ulalupe, is set to compete at the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers (Oceania), at Western Samoa in September. A squad of 32 players is announced.

Nikolai Foliaki will captain the ‘Ikale Tahi in this Friday’s match against the Queensland Reds at Teufaiva Stadium in Nuku’alofa (26 July). Ben Tameifuna, who captained the previous two games, will not be playing. Meanwhile, Manutala’aho Huni-Po’ese will captain the Tonga Women's rugby team.

Tonga’s National Touch World Cup Team defeated Scotland (10-5) in the playoff, to earn 9th place in the World rankings for Open Men's Touch at the weekend, in Nottingham, England. The Touch World Cup brings the best Touch players from around the globe to decide who is World Champion.

Spain is set to take on Tonga at the Ikale Tahi's home ground at Teufaiva Stadium in Nuku’alofa, tomorrow afternoon, 19 July 2024. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:30pm local time. Both teams are closely ranked teams in the World Rugby standings. Tonga, currently sitting at 16th place and Spain, who are just three spots behind at 19th.

The ‘Ikale Tahi, captained by Ben Tameifuna, is set to clash with Italy at Teufaiva Stadium in Nuku'alofa this Friday 12 July 2024, with kick-off set for 3:30pm Tonga time. Tonga Rugby Union and the ‘Ikale Tahi management released their Team List this afternoon, 10 July.

Tonga's netball team, the Tala, secured their title as the Pacific Netball Champions 2024, after defeating the Fiji Pearls (72-58) in Brisbane, Australia on 15 June 2024.
