Tala, Tonga’s National Netball Team will head into the 2023 PacificAus Sports Netball Series in Gold Coast, Australia from 24-29 April, as reigning champions.

Tonga’s national netball team Tala has taken Tonga Netball to 77h place in the world netball rankings, another achievement for the winning team, after a short stay in 8th place since November 2022.

Tonga Men’s basketball team has qualified for the Pacific Games 2023, after five days of basketball matches at the FIBA Polynesian cup 2022, in Kaitaia, New Zealand from 1-5 November.

Five times Olympian and two-times gold medalist, Dame Valerie Adams brought home to Tonga her inspirational 'More than Gold' feature film, dedicated to her late mother Lilika Ngauamo of Houma. The film is being screened for free for the rest of the week to youths and school students in Nuku'alofa. At the same time, it is being shown in New Zealand cinemas.

Tonga’s National Netball Team, the Tala, has won the 2022 PacificAus Sports Netball Series held last week on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. Head Coach, Jaqua Pori-Makea-Simpson told Matangi Tonga today that having an undefeated year and getting a second series win is just a remarkable and proud moment.
