The official Tongan national rugby team, the ‘Ikale Tahi for the 2016 Pacific Nations Cup tournament is yet to be officially announced by its Executive/Chairman, Fe’ao Vunipola. Now heading the Tonga Rugby Union are Tonga's Prime Minister as President and the Deputy Prime Minister as Chairman.

The Vodaphone Warriors have released their star centre Konrad Hurrell. The NRL club announced the move today May 25. Konrad’s contract was originally scheduled to end in 2018. The cut comes after reports of a strained relationship between Konrad and his club regarding off-field incidents.

Tonga has been excluded from the 2016 World Rugby U20 Trophy tournament. Fiji and Samoa are both currently competing in the competition which commenced last week in Zimbabwe. The annual U20 Trophy tournament hosts second tier nations who did not qualify for the premium U20 World Rugby Championship.
