Brisbane is set to host the 2023 Oceania Rugby Sevens Championship for the first time, in a three days competition, with teams also competing for an Olympic qualification, starting 10-12 November, at the Ballymore Stadium. The women’s Olympic section of the tournament will feature Tonga, and seven other Pacific islands countries, vying for the sole qualification spot to Paris 2024.

The Flying Fijians narrowly defeated the ‘Ikale Tahi 14 – 10 today in a hard fought match at Teufaiva Stadium. The ‘Ikale Tahi crossed the Fijian try line in extra-time to an uproarious crowd, but jubliation was short-lived as the referee disallowed the try and ordered a 5 metre scrum to Fiji.
