The Kolomotu'a 'Ikale (Eagles) were awarded the Pataloni (Patrons) Shield as champions of the Tongatapu Sub-Union Pataloni title 2026 on Saturday after a closely contested grand final at Teufaiva Stadium.

Kolomotu'a 'Ikale edged out Ha'ateiho Spartans 28-25 in the annual rugby union competition, which brings together clubs from across Tongatapu.

Kolomotu'a prevailed in a head-to-head contest that remained in the balance until the closing stages, with the Eagles holding on to claim a three-point victory.

Supporters from both clubs packed Teufaiva Stadium, with strong backing for each side creating a vibrant atmosphere for the final.

The Pataloni Tournament is one of the Tongatapu Sub-Union's key competitions, providing local clubs with the opportunity to compete for the provincial title and showcase emerging rugby talent.

Following the final whistle, families and supporters of the Kolomotu'a side gathered on the field to celebrate the victory under clear and sunny conditions for the conclusion of another competitive season of sub-union rugby in Tongatapu.
