Nuku'alofa, Tonga : The Tonga Supreme Court has refused to grant an injunction that was sought by plaintiffs to stop Parliament from sitting until the final determination of judicial review proceedings. The Acting Chief Clerk of the Legislative Assembly said that the Supreme Court also heard submissions on a separate application by the Speaker and the Legislative Assembly that disputes the jurisdiction of the court to investigate the internal proceedings of the House on the September vote of no confidence motion in the Prime Minister. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : After an affray at a pizzeria in the Nuku'alofa CBD yesterday, 12 December, a husband (44) and wife (45) were to appear in the Magistrate's Court today charged with causing bodily harm. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Lulutai Airline's 19-seater DHC-6 Twin Otter will service the Vava'u and Ha'apai routes over the Christmas holidays, while the other two aircraft in its domestic fleet are out of service. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : 'Akimeta Tu’utafaiva (40) was jailed for causing serious bodily harm in a drunken violent outburst at Kolofo'ou, when he injured his 20-year-old nephew, causing a permanent disability on his left index finger. The judge said that it was unclear why the full extent of the dangerous and violent outburst, apparently involving attacks on property and an attempt to injure another with the machete, was not fully indicted. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : The Lulutai Airline's Saab 340 aircraft slid off the taxiway at the Fua'amotu Domestic Airport with a full load passengers, early this afternoon, hitting a low concrete wall, after it earlier aborted landing at the Lupepau’u Airport in Vava’u. Early reports say there were no injuries, but passengers were screaming after a landing gear collapsed. One man was carried off the plane by responding soldiers. Premium content -
