    : Kite foiler, JJ Rice, from Tonga, is now competing at the "2024 Formula Kite World Championships" in Hyères in the South of France from 13 to 19 May. This is the last big regatta before kiteboarding makes its Olympic debut at Paris 2024. JJ came 8th in the Oceania Olympic qualifiers last December, earning him a spot at the summer Olympics.

    : Prime Minister Hu'akavameiliku met with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, along with the Governor-General of Tuvalu, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. The purpose of the meeting was so that Azerbaijan could gather resources, and be familiar with island nations and their voices, as Azerbaijan prepares to host the 2024 Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP29).

    : A dozen naval personnel from His Majesty’s Armed Forces learned how to fix outboard motors, in a workshop conducted by a Japanese team of trainers, who arrived in Tonga yesterday, 7 May 2024. Team leader, Cmdr. Murakoshi Masato of Japan’s Armed Forces, said they were passing on “lifesaving” information.
