Three men arrested involving drugs and firearms

Three men were arrested on drugs and firearms charges following two separate Tonga Police drugs operations conducted last week.

On 27 February 2026, Tonga Police apprehended a 35-year-old male from Kolonga who was driving around the Tatakamotonga area allegedly "distributing illicit drugs to members of the public," Tonga Police stated.

"When officers approached his vehicle, the suspect attempted to flee on foot but was quickly pursued and apprehended."

During the same operation, a 39-year-old male from Ma'ufanga was arrested in connection with the incident.

Both individuals have been charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug-related utensils.

Houma arrest

In a separate operation conducted on 28 February 2026, Tonga Police arrested a 32-year-old male from Houma following intelligence indicating his involvement in the distribution of illicit drugs within the community.

"An operation was subsequently executed, resulting in the seizure of firearms, ammunition, drug-related paraphernalia, and a quantity of cash believed to be associated with the illegal activities," Police stated.

The suspect has been formally charged with possession of drug-related utensils, possession of firearms without a licence, and possession of ammunition without a licence.

All exhibits in both operations have been seized, and investigations are ongoing.

Tonga Police stated they are committed to combating illegal drug activity and the unlawful possession of firearms and encourage members of the public to report any suspicious activities within their communities.
