Six firearms and 12 cartons of ammunition were intercepted and seized by Tonga Customs officials on 22 May 2024. They were found in a crate that also contained personal items consigned to a 38-year-old Tongan female from Halaleva, Tongatapu.

The body of a man who was discovered on the roadside in the Tokomololo area, on Sunday, 5 May, has been identified as 50 year old Kepueli 'Ahome'e from Ha'alalo. Tonga Police warned that photos of the body shared on social media were inappropriate and disrespectful to the family and friends of the deceased.

A magistrate has granted bail for a woman, one of two siblings, arrested on 10 February in relation to a police seizure of 15.657kg of methamphetamine in Nuku'alofa. ‘Ana Longolongo Kolokihakaufisi (37) and her brother, a senior reserve bank official Tēvita Nonu Kolokihakaufisi (39), first appeared before a magistrate on 12 February, and were remanded in custody to 16 February. He was not permitted bail and remains in custody.

It is still unclear whether the remains, or body parts, that were recovered belonged to one or more persons or why the Police were regarding the grisly discovery as homicide.
