
Two men from Te'ekiu were arrested by Tonga Police during an ongoing operation targeting illegal drug activity on Tongatapu.
On Friday, 1 May 2026, a 50-year-old man from Te'ekiu was arrested and charged with possession of illicit drugs, possession of drug-related utensils, and cultivation of cannabis. Items seized during the operation included cash believed to be proceeds of crime, cannabis plants, packs of cannabis, and drug-related utensils.
In a separate incident, an 18-year-old man from Te'ekiu was arrested and charged with possession of drug-related utensils and distribution of drugs within the community.
Both individuals were scheduled to appear in court today, 7 May 2026.
Tonga Police stated it remains committed to disrupting the supply and use of illegal drugs and continue to urge members of the public to report any suspicious drug-related activity.
