A young Tongan police woman, Hola ‘i Moana Tauvaka has qualified as a heptathlete for the Oceania Athletics Championship to be held in June in Suva, Fiji. PC Tauvaka will compete in the heptathlon, across seven combined events including the 100-meter hurdles, 200-meter run, 800-meter run, high jump, long (broad) jump, shot put, and javelin throw.

Tonga Police warned that photos of the body shared on social media were inappropriate and disrespectful to the family and friends of the deceased.

A magistrate has granted bail for a woman, one of two siblings, arrested on 10 February in relation to a police seizure of 15.657kg of methamphetamine in Nuku'alofa. ‘Ana Longolongo Kolokihakaufisi (37) and her brother, a senior reserve bank official Tēvita Nonu Kolokihakaufisi (39), first appeared before a magistrate on 12 February, and were remanded in custody to 16 February. He was not permitted bail and remains in custody.

It is still unclear whether the remains, or body parts, that were recovered belonged to one or more persons or why the Police were regarding the grisly discovery as homicide.
