Holonga teen dies from electric shock

A 13-year-old teen died from electrocution in Holonga on Saturday, 7 February, when he came into contact with an exposed electrical source in a chicken coop.

Tonga Police confirmed today that the death of a 13-year-old male follows an electrical incident at a chicken coop located on the family's property, where the deceased came into contact with an exposed electrical source.

"Despite being immediately conveyed to the hospital by family members, he was later pronounce deceased by the attending doctor," Police stated.

Tonga Police advised the public to ensure all electrical systems and installations are properly maintained and safe.

"Any unsafe electrical conditions should be reported to the relevant authorities."
