Two Tonga Police operations on Tongatapu last week resulted in the arrests of three women and a man on separate charges related to the possession of illicit drugs, drug-related utensils, and possession of ammunition without a license.
On 30 June, the Tonga Police Response Unit patrol team, operating in the Hu'atolitoli area, intercepted a vehicle occupied by two women from Lapaha, aged 37 and 50 years. They were arrested and charged with possession of drugs and drug utensils, Tonga Police stated.
On 1 July, a 37-year-old female from Tokomololo and a 34-year-old male from Ma'ufanga were arrested and charged with possession of illicit drugs, drug-related utensils, and possession of ammunition without a license.
Tonga Police said the operations led to the seizure of methamphetamine, cannabis, cash, electronic devices, ammunition, and other related items.
Tonga Police urged the public to report any information relating to illicit drug activity.
