A 21-year-old female driver from Kahoua, was arrested and charged by Tonga Police after a video of her driving was posted to social media, gaining widespread attention on 12, June.
The video depicted a minibus dangerously circling the Taufa'ahau/Bypass roundabout multiple times, with passengers visibly encouraging the behaviour.
Following a police investigation, the driver was located and arrested on 13 June 2025, on charges related to reckless driving. The matter is scheduled to be heard in court on Wednesday, 2 July 2025.
Tonga Police reminded all members of the public to act responsibly on our roads.
"Reckless driving endangers lives and will not be tolerated. Public safety remains our highest priority."
