    : A neighbourly concern for youngsters who go to school hungry, has moved a Kolomotu’a family to provide free breakfasts for over 100 children at their local school twice a week. “I believe that in most communities there are children who go to school without breakfast and the same children may not have food for lunch,” said Dr Taniela Palu, whose family has started the programme.

    : The number of sports allowed at future Pacific Games has now been reduced from 26 to 24, with the decision made after a Pacific Games Council General Assembly meeting yesterday in Port Vila, Vanuatu. The number of compulsory sports has increased from 14 to 16, with sailing and triathlon being promoted.

    : Safe drinking water will be easier to access for around 4,000 people in six villages across western and eastern Tongatapu thanks to the New Zealand Government committing NZ$51,000 to Caritas Tonga to restore water supply catchments. Works include renovating and rehabilitating decrepit rainwater tanks and installing new water refill stations.
