The Pacific Community is the principal scientific and technical organisation in the Pacific region, supporting development since 1947. We are renowned for our knowledge and innovation in such areas as fisheries science, public health surveillance, geoscience and conservation of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture.
The Polynesia Regional Office will lead on strengthening engagement and relationships with members towards better coordination, planning and delivery of regional programmes and services across the Polynesia sub-region. This includes strengthening integrated programming efforts and development of strategic approaches to country programming in Polynesian countries to increase sustainable development impacts and results for SPC members in particular progressing their Sustainable Development Goals. As part of programming, the work of PRO will also facilitate the harmonisation of approaches and contextualised models for programme execution in Polynesia.
The role – the Cleaner/Driver will maintain cleanliness across all PRO facilities and support logistics needs, including event setup, catering assistance, and other related duties to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. In addition, the role is responsible for providing reliable transportation services and ensuring that PRO vehicles are safely maintained, secured, and ready for use.
Qualifications
- Certificate in hospitality, housekeeping or similar or equivalent body of knowledge and experience
- Valid Driver’s license
Technical expertise
- Seven years of experience in a similar position.
- Proven relevant work experience in housekeeping operations and management.
- Proven cleaning experience.
- Relevant driving experience with demonstrated ability to drive safely and effectively.
- Good knowledge and understanding of road codes and rules.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and servicing.
- Wide knowledge of Nukualofa business community and ministry locations.
- Proven stock management skills.
- Working knowledge of the use of cleanliness and hygiene products as well as the different rules that fall to the profession.
Working knowledge of the handling of cleanliness and hygiene equipment.
Language skills
- Fluency in English
Interpersonal skills and cultural awareness
- High level of interpersonal skills to work within a multi-cultural work environment.
Contract Duration – This position is budgeted for 12 months.

Band 4 in SPC’s 2025, salary range of TOP 12,876 –16,092 per year, 25 days annual leave per annum, sick leave, medical and life insurance, and access to SPC’s Provident Fund.
