London, UK : I have recently taken up work with a sports management company called athletes1, based in London. I am in charge of the Rugby Union division which means that I am currently the agent for about 40 professional rugby players, finding clubs for them, sponsorship deals, helping them with their finances, etc. My love for Tonga has meant that I have tried to help as many Tongan players as possible. - Tom FowlerPremium content -

Canberra, Australia : The Tongan Defence Service is to help Australia provide housing facilities to Australian Aborigines. Announcing the scheme, the Australian Defence Minister, Senator Robert Hill, said the Defence Department.'s Aboriginal Army Community Assistance Program (AACAP) will be boosted with engineers from the Tonga Defence Service (TDS) joining Army's 21 Construction Squadron from next week.Premium content -

Nadi, Fiji : Non Government Organizations (NGOs) from Fiji, Samoa, Vanuatu, Tonga and the Marshall Islands, meeting in Nadi today have called for a greater NGO role in Pacific Governments annual Budget processes. They have also put a strong case to have this participation properly funded by Government so that the voice of people in poverty and other disadvantaged groups may be heard at all points in the budget process.Premium content -

Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Minute No. 22: Proposed amendment of the Regulation for the Ship Registration Act was to enable the Fuakavenga II to be registered in Tonga, Tonga pays $1 million to the Pacific Forum Line and $1 million to the Hartman Shipping Group of Germany so that Tonga may have the option of buying back the ship after eight years, the Regulation and the Act have been amended and the ship was reregistered earlier this year but the amended regulation was brought in for the House to approve, Death Grant of $15,000 for soldiers who die on the battlefield or during a military exercise, in addition his next of kin will be paid his pension from government. Sydney, Australia : I wasn't aware that we Tongan who have acquired citizenship overseas, were not allowed to renew our Tongan Passport when it expires. This was a shock to me last month when I arrived at the immigration office, Nuku'alofa. Honiara, Solomon Islands : The Tongan Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defence, HRH Prince 'Ulukalala Lavaka Ata was interviewed by Linny Folau in Honiara, Solomon Islands, on 24 July 2004, while he was attending the first anniversary of RAMSI, the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomons.
