Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Air Pacific this week will cut back its service to Tonga to twice instead of three times a week, terminating its Saturday service, and flying to Tonga only on Tuesday and Thursday, following a clash with Tonga's civil aviation authorities.

Neiafu, Vava'u : Three baby Pilot Whales were rescued from the shallow waters of eastern Vava'u, in Tonga, after being stranded for nearly a week. But the mother whale and two other whales that were stranded with the pod died from injuries believed to be caused by a shark attack. Premium content -

Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Polling in Tonga's Parliamentary Election today has been heavy at Pangai Si'i in downtown Nuku'alofa, where voters from Tonga's outer islands were casting their votes for their home areas. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : I note with incredulity, in reading the Press Release from the Prime Minister's Office today, that Government proclaims that an, "elevated sensitivity to public sentiments was formalized in the establishment of the Commission for Public Relations". To call this a "meritorious trend" is simply hogwash in light of the fact that the Prime Minister's Office and its Chief Secretary have led the way in ignoring the decisions and recommendations of the Commissioner for Public Relations. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : As we discover this week that it is not viable for a New Zealander to invest in Tonga because of a restrictive New Zealand tax legislation, a number of questions spring to mind. It is definitely very unfair for these New Zealanders and Tongans who have made New Zealand their homes to find that investment in Tonga is made unprofitable by restrictive tax laws.
