Potsdam, Germany : Today’s leaders must not bequeath a dangerously destabilized planet to future generations. This is why the Nobel Foundation is hosting its first-ever Nobel Prize Summit, with the theme “Our Planet, Our Future,” in Washington, DC, from April 29 to May 1. The summit – supported by the US National Academy of Sciences, the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, and the Stockholm Resilience Centre/Beijer Institute – will bring together more than 20 Nobel laureates and other experts from around the world to explore the question: What can be achieved in this decade to put the world on a path to a more sustainable, more prosperous future for all of humanity? Nuku'alofa, Tonga : While no cases of coronavirus have been identified in Tonga, measures have been introduced at ports of entry for all international travellers. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : The Tonga Government stated today it has remained in regular contact with the students and sports team who remain in mainland China, due to cancelled flights, and that the Embassy in Nuku'alofa had guaranteed that they were well with the necessary supplies until they could depart China for Tonga. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Young Tongan students in China have been advised to stay at universities, by the Chinese Embassy in Tonga, as there are no flights to get them out now. They are among over 300 people from Tonga who remain in China. -

Mildura, Victoria : A 25-year-old Tongan man who overstayed in Australia on an expired visa, was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment last Thursday by the Mildura Magistrates’ Court in Victoria, after he pleaded guilty to assaulting and damaging the property of his ex-girlfriend, as well as resisting police and carrying a weapon.
