Tonga Police allege that alcohol was involved in the road accident where two people died in the early morning of 21 September on Taufa’ahau Road at Nualei. The deceased were the driver, a 28-year-old man from Veitongo, and a passenger a 19-year-old woman from Pātangata. Three people remain in hospital with serious injuries.

Sergeant Tu’uholoaki, a Trainer at the Police College, urged parents not to teach children to fear the police, “Teach their children the truth: a police officer’s job is to help them in time of trouble or when they need help, and to keep them safe."
