Tonga Police officers successfully completed a two-week Leadership Training Program, in partnership with the UK College of Policing on 21 February 2025, the first time the UK training has been conducted here.

A male driver was charged for reckless driving causing the death of a 21 year old male, ‘Esilani Latu from Nakolo. Lead investigator and Chief Police at Mu’a police station, Saimone Fifita, told Matangi Tonga today that a video that social media users claimed to be related to this case, was “false” and “misleading.”

A 21-year-old male from Hauloto and his 32-year-old wife were arrested for alleged possession of illicit drugs on 6 January 2025.

Tonga Police have launched a homicide investigation after a young man was found dead on the road in Hahake last week. The victim was confirmed to be a 21-year-old male from Nakolo, who police said was run over by a vehicle, and had major injuries suspected to have happened prior to the road incident.
