    : Two Tongan men aged 23 and 21 have been arrested and charged in relation to the brutal attack of a 56-year-old American woman, now confirmed by Police as the United States Peace Corps Director in Nuku’alofa. The attack occurred while she was jogging on the Sopu waterfront on Saturday morning, 16 July.

    : Another one-day meeting called by the Prime Minister this time to explain to parliamentarians and others the major changes in Tonga's education system and in particular the reasons why Standardization Marks will be replaced by Raw Marks in Tongan schools was held this afternoon, Thursday 25 August at Kalofiama ‘o Epworth Hall. "We feel there are still doubts and concerns, and that is why this meeting was called," the PM said.

    : The 330 arrests mainly for drunk and disorderly conduct in central Nuku’alofa over the last three weeks is a community problem, which “should concern all of you,” says Tonga’s Commissioner of Police. He stated today that 50 people were arrested over the weekend and warned that the Police would continue to take a tough enforcement stance on drunkenness, criminal behaviour and drinking and driving.
