    : Brisbane's Tongan Community have more than ten kava clubs who meet regularly. President of the Brisbane Tongan Community steering committee, Rev. Maile Molitika says that kava clubs are important in holding the community spirit together. They support the Australian Prime Minister's Pilot Program to ease restrictions on the importation of kava for personal use into Australia.

    : A team of around 50 medical staff from different countries, including Australia and New Zealand, will volunteer their services to treat Tongans with heart conditions at Vaiola Hospital from September 3-21. Dr Siaosi ‘Aho said healthy Tongans can assist by visiting the hospital to donate their blood. “We need to increase the blood bank before the team arrives and we really need blood donors.”

And then, one month later, on June 4, will come the 30th anniversary of the violent suppression of pro-democracy student protests on the same site.
