Results for Elections

The registration for candidates running in the 2025 General Election in Tonga closed today, 9 October.

The registration of candidates for the Noble’s Representatives seats in the Legislative Assembly opened this morning, 8 October at 10:00am at the Palace office, Nuku'alofa. There were five early registrations for the nine seats.

The date for Tonga's November General Election has not yet been set, said the Supervisor of Elections Pita Vuki today, as the Electoral Office awaits the Writ of Election to be issued by King Tupou VI.

The polls have closed at 4:00pm in today's By-election for the Vava'u Constituency no. 14 held in Tongatapu and Vava'u, to fill the seat vacated by Dr. Saia Piukala. There are four candidates. The Electoral Commissioner and Supervisor of Elections, Pita Vuki said the results will be released at the end of the counting, whenever that might be.

Kapelieli Militoni Lanumata won the Tongatapu 10 By-Election with 870 votes and secured his seat in the Legislative Assembly of Tonga in yesterday's by-election when 2,261 voters turned out to vote for five candidates.

The nomination of candidates to contest the seat for the People's Representative to the Tonga Legislative Assembly for Tongatapu 10 will be held on 6-7 June. The By-Election will be held in July.

Three new Tongatapu People's Representatives have been elected into the Legislative Assembly, after the By-Elections on 3 November. The successful candidates are Mateni Tapueluelu [Tongatapu 4], Dulcie Elaine Tei [Tongatapu 6] and Paula Piveni Piukala [Tongatapu 7].

There are 41 polling stations for the By-Elections on 3 November to elect three new People's Representatives to the Tonga Legislative Assembly, in the constituencies of Tongatapu 4, Tongatapu 6 and Tongatapu 7.

The registration of candidates for the parliamentarian By Elections for Tongatapu 4, Tongatapu 6 and Tongatapu 7 will be held on September 5-6 in Nuku’alofa.
