The protected area, one of the largest in the world, is around 740,000 square kilometers, roughly the size of Chile.

    : Tonga Met reported that a tsunami wave of less than 0.1M (0.3ft) was recorded at Nuku’alofa Tide gauge at about 08:15am this morning. The Tsunami Marine Warning previously in force for Tonga is NOW CANCELLED. The tsunami generated from the M8.2 Chiapas, Mexico earthquake was observed by coastal and deep-ocean gauges in the eastern Pacific, Samoa and Tonga and other places.
