    : More than 200,000 tomato and capsicum seeds are available to help Tongan farmers rehabilitate their crops after Cyclone Gita caused widespread damage last month. The seeds were handed over to The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (MAFF), last week at a ceremony in ‘Eua.

    : Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) president David Chung visited Vava’u on Saturday 10 March, to review the construction site of a football technical centre in the Village of Makave. The FIFA funded construction project aims to establish a centre that will facilitate the growth of football in Vava’u. The centre will include a football field, an administration office, a changing room block and a toilet block. The construction project is expected to be completed in October this year.

    : The European Commission today announced that it will be contributing €300 000 ($790,860 Pa’anga) in humanitarian funding to assist Tongans in their recovery from Cyclone Gita. The EU declared that the aid would focus on “…addressing the most pressing needs of the affected families through the provision of emergency shelter, access to safe drinking water, and food and livelihood assistance.”
