Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Twenty-six Tongan students have been awarded tertiary scholarships to study in New Zealand and Fiji starting this year, funded by the New Zealand Government through its Aid programme. New Zealand universities have accepted 21 scholars, while Fiji’s University of the South Pacific has accepted six. -

Nuku'alofa, Tonga : An exhausting week-long walkathon around Ha’apai, ‘Eua, Vava’u and Tongatapu was completed last week by Frazer Mataitonga from the ‘Akanesi Mataitonga Trust. Frazer agreed to perform the challenge as part of a fundraiser to help the ‘Ofa Tui ‘Amanaki Centre, which supports handicapped children.Premium content

Nadi, Fiji : A meeting looking at the performance of the Pacific Horticultural and Agricultural Market Access (PHAMA) Program as well as its next phase is underway this week in Fiji. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Tonga’s darts team have placed 5th (ladies) and 7th (mens) overall at their first international competition at the South Pacific Darts Championship held in Vanuatu last week. Fine'eva Dilger's overall performance saw her win three silver medals for scoring the most 100's, individual peg outs, and most team peg outs in the competition.Premium content

Nuku'alofa, Tonga : 'Etuate Lavulavu is to pay Viliami Latu the sum of $69,319.90 after Justice O. G. Paulsen on 8 January 2018 dismissed an application by ‘Etuate Lavulavu for the Supreme Court to change a “Consent Order” that came into effective on 11 August 2017. Geneva, Switzerland : Forty-five foreign governments, including Tonga's primary aid donors, delivered their reviews and recommendations to the Government of Tonga at the United Nation’s 29th Session of Universal Periodic Review in Geneva, Switzerland this week.
