Nuku'alofa, Tonga : A two-year-old boy died on Thursday night October 6, after being accidentally run over by a four-wheel drive vehicle that was reversing at their home in Lapaha. His mother is facing charges of manslaughter by negligence.

Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Tonga's Attorney General’s Office is asking the United States for a provisional arrest warrant of Dean Jay Fletcher, who is accused of murdering his wife in Neiafu, Vava'u. Fletcher fled police custody on September 29 and sailed to American Samoa in his yacht Sea Oak. Tonga is seeking an extradition - a complex process which is expected to take "some time". Sydney, Australia : A 17-year old Australian boy of Tongan heritage, Tyrone Taukamo, is the most wanted rugby player in Australia according to local media reports. Tyrone has been approached by 15 of 16 NRL clubs, and has also received two offers from French Rugby clubs Bordeaux and Toulon. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : An Indonesian diplomat said that Indonesia is “shocked” at six Pacific Islands governments, including Tonga, for accusing Indonesia of human rights violations in West Papua. Nara Masista Rakhmatia during a speech at the 1st Session of the General Assembly of the UN in New York on 24 September 2016 also accused PM Pohiva and other Pacific leaders of using the General Assembly to advance their domestic agendas and to divert attention from political and social problems at home. -
