Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Drugs offender, Pita Talanoa will be sentenced next month on three charges including possession of 24.34 grams of methamphetamine seized at Veitongo in 2023. His female co-offender who faced one charge was found not guilty due to insufficient evidence.

Nuku'alofa, Tonga : A senior reserve bank official, Tēvita Nonu Kolokihakaufisi (39), appeared together with his sister, ‘Ana Longolongo Kolokihakaufisi (37) at the Magistrate’s Court in Nuku'alofa, yesterday afternoon, Monday 12 February, on charges related to a haul of 15.657kg of methamphetamine seized by Police on the weekend. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : The PM and his Cabinet should remember the uniqueness of our kind of democracy. Ours is not like the British democracy where the King has no executive power. Ours is a democracy under Constitutional monarchy. The King has the ultimate executive authority over the Government. He can dissolve Parliament if it deems necessary as he has done with 'Akilisi's government back then. Our Constitution, and especially Clause 51 retains the King's authority over Cabinet by giving him authority to endorse ...the appointments of Cabinet ministers. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Widespread blackouts affecting Tongatapu this week were due to a technical issue within the system that automates power generation coming from different sources such as wind, solar, and diesel. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : After a month-long headache investigating the case of a human head that was found anchored to the seabed at Yellow Pier, on Christmas Day, Tonga Police are now seeking external assistance to find the body. Deputy Police Commissioner Tevita Vailea said the investigation was ongoing. While there have not been any new clues, they are now turning to counterparts in Australia and New Zealand for help in figuring out the mystery. -
