A delay in shipping caused a significant shortage of petroleum in many bowsers in Tongatapu, over the weekend, but a shipment expected tonight in Nuku'alofa is expected to relieve the situation.

Konifelenisi Gas Station employee, Maikolo, told Matangi Tonga that they were advised of a delay on the next shipment by Pacific Energy on Thursday, 25 September.

"They said the next shipment will arrive tonight (29 Sep) and will begin refueling the bowsers tomorrow or Wednesday,” he said.

"We were supposed to refuel today but because the oil tanker is arriving late, we have to wait."

Sonasi Gas Station employee, told Matangi Tonga that they expected to be restocked tomorrow or Wednesday.

Pacific Energy is the main petroleum supplier for some of the major gas stations in the country including, Konifelenisi, Sonasi and Luna’eva gas stations.

Matangi Tonga contacted Pacific Energy today to confirm the situation but the Country Manager, Paula Taufa was unavailable.
