Nuku'alofa, Tonga : A jury trial of two men charged with importing 14kg of marijuana to Tonga was stopped this week, after the defence counsel objected to a damaging testimony given by a Crown witness.

Nuku'alofa, Tonga : There is no air service to the island of 'Eua, because Tonga's Ministry of Civil Aviation does not have the funds to fence the runway on the island to keep away stray animals, and a recent test flight found it was not safe to land with stray pigs on the runway. Premium content -

Auckland, New Zealand : The fact that Tonga was never colonized has made Tonga unique and different from her neighboring islands. It is a source of pride for Tongans in the years gone by, so much so, that many of the Tongan poets have lines like: "Taha pe 'i he tahi saute", "Kei toe pe 'a felenite", etc, etc. Certainly, things would be much different now if that famous meeting at Pouono to decide on which colonial power to give Tonga to, came out with something different. - Sailosi Finau Premium content -
