Tonga Power Ltd. paid its highest dividend to the Government of Tonga, handing over a cheque for $2 million pa'anga on December 8. The 2014-15 dividend represents a 27% increase on the previous year's return to government.

The Reserve Bank has revised its Exchange Control Policy Guidelines with effect from 1st May 2015. The Exchange Control Policy Guidelines outlines the supporting documentary evidence that must be sighted by the commercial banks, authorized foreign exchange dealers and the Reserve Bank prior to allowing any overseas payments to be made. Tonga’s first photovoltaic solar facility to introduce a stabilising capacitor and micro-grid control system was technically handed-over as the Nanyo Boeki Kaisha Ltd., Japanese-lead consortium of contractors and project consultants, signed an agreement with Tonga Power Ltd. to mark the completion of the project.
