A highlight of the Tonga Rugby Union's centennial year celebrations this week was a red float parade held in the Nuku'alofa CBD on Saturday, 1 July 2023.

Tonga’s national rugby union team, ‘Ikale Tahi will play two home test matches against Canada on 10-15 August, at Teufaiva Stadium.

A strong 35-member ‘Ikale Tahi team was announced today by the Tonga Rugby Union for the July Internationals 2023.

The ‘Ikale Tahi has taken the win 39-10 against Chile in their second match of the 2022 Northern Hemisphere tour, at the National Rugby Stadium in Bucharest, Romania on 12 November.

The ‘Ikale Tahi team to play Spain at the Ciudad De Malaga Stadium, Malaga on Saturday, 5 November (6:30am Sunday Tonga time) was named by the Tonga Rugby Union. This is their first game of their Northern Hemisphere tour 2022.

Tonga has qualified for their eighth consecutive Rugby World Cup after a dominant 44-22 win against Hong Kong in the Asia/Pacific Play-off at the Sunshine Coast Stadium. Tonga join Pool B of Rugby World Cup 2023 alongside Ireland, Scotland, South Africa and Romania

The ‘Ikale Tahi has ended its the Pacific Nations Cup 2022 winless, after being defeated by Australia A 39-22, in the final round of the Pacific Nations Cup on 16 July. Samoa won the Pacific Nations Cup 2022 title, after beating the host Fiji 23-20.

Tongan born Vaea Fifita (30), a former All Black, is now eligible to play for Tonga. He joins other prominent players in their switch of allegiance.

Changes have been made to the ‘Ikale Tahi’s starting line up for their match against Samoa at Churchill Stadium in Lautoka on Saturday, 9 July.
