Suva, Fiji : Over US$100M in micro loans has been handed out to tens of thousands of low-Income women across the Pacific Islands, including Tonga, by the South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) since its launch in 2000. Port Vila, Vanuatu : The Pacific Games Council (PGC) will suspend Tahiti for political interference in Tahitian sporting bodies, following the completion of the 2017 Mini Games in Vanuatu this Friday 15 December. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Legal action against Tonga for withdrawing from hosting the 2019 Pacific Games has been given full support by members of the Pacific Games Council (PGC) General Assembly at a meeting held last Sunday 10 December, in Port Vila, Vanuatu. The PGC has instructed its legal counsel in Tonga to proceed with an action for damages, which may amount to millions. Premium content -

Princeton, USA : A Saudi prince has been revealed to be the buyer of Leonardo da Vinci's "Salvator Mundi," for which he spent $450.3 million. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : The dissolution of the Tongan Parliament on 24 August carried a hope that new members of parliament and a new Prime Minister with a new government might be elected to advance the Tongan democratic reform that was introduced in 2010.
