    : Venasio Hau (32) was sentenced to four-years and six-months imprisonment, partially suspended, for possession of 27.76 grams of methamphetamine, while his two co-accused received suspended sentences. The illicit drugs were seized after Police received information of it being sold at a residence in Ma'ufanga.

    : While Tonga’s Civil Aviation Division (CAD) and investigators from Australia are still investigating the cause of the A3PUA aircraft accident, at Fua’amotu Domestic Airport a month ago, Lulutai Airlines, so far, has been unable to find a replacement aircraft to service high demand on the domestic inter-island routes during the holiday season.

    : The best performing schools for the Tonga National Form Seven Certificate (TNFSC) 2023 exams were Niuatoputapu High School and Niuafo‘ou High School, who both achieved a passing rate of 100%, the Prime Minister Hon. Hu'akavameiliku said today.

    : Tonga Police Chief Superintendant Commander Filipe Fifita, who heads a homicide investigation, said today he could not disclose anything further about an investigation into human remains, recovered from the seabed at the Yellow Pier in Nuku'alofa on Boxing Day. It is still unclear whether the remains, or body parts, that were recovered belonged to one or more persons or why the Police were regarding the grisly discovery as homicide.

    : Travellers to and from the outer islands are relying heavily on the inter-island ferries MV ‘Otuanga’ofa and MV Taka-i-Pomana this holiday season, to travel between Tongatapu, Vava'u, and Ha'apai, after a disruption to the domestic air services on 8 December, when the  Lulutai Airlines Saab 340 aircraft was damaged while taxing after landing at Fua'amotu Airport.
