Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Donations raised from a benefit concert in the United States were handed out to two local organizations on 17 May, to assist in the aftermath of the volcanic eruption and tsunamis that impacted Tonga on 15 January this year. A. further donation will be given to a local primary school.

Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Ma’ake Pasina (36) was sentenced to two and a half-years imprisonment for causing serious bodily harm when he stabbed a complainant twice during brawl, in Ngele’ia in 2021. The Lord Chief Justice also rescinded a previous six-months' suspended sentence and added it to this one, meaning the offender will serve a total of three-years imprisonment. Premium content -

California, USA : Ensign Mary Melenaite Tufui Likio ‘Fui’ McCray was commissioned as the first female Tongan officer in U.S. Navy history, on 29 April, at the Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, in California. Poasi Tei, as Tongatapu No. 6 People’s Representative to the Legislative Assembly has been declared void by the Supreme Court, after he was found to have committed three acts of bribery, in the lead up to the November 2021 General Election. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : The Tonga Government will respect the decisions of the courts on electoral petitions, the Prime Minister, Hon. Hu’akavameiliku, stated today after the Supreme Court voided the election of his Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Poasi Tei this morning.
