Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Serious concerns over public comments, interference and threats regarding the death of a US-Tongan Sione Feimoefiafi on 4 February in Nuku‘alofa, were expressed today by the Attorney General’s Office who urged the public to exercise restraint - or face criminal prosecutions. “The rule of law still prevails in Tonga,” the Attorney General stated.Premium content -

Fua'amotu, Tonga : A Tropical Cyclone Alert for the Niuas was issued by the Fua'amotu Tropical Cyclone Warnings Centre at 2:00pm this afternoon as an active tropical disturbance moves south towards Fiji and Tongan waters. Gales are forecast for the Niuas tonight; with strong wind warnings for Vava'u, Ha'apai, Tongatapu and 'Eua land areas and coastal waters. -

Suva, Fiji : UNICEF warned today of the dangers posed by online violence, cyberbullying and digital harassment for the 70.6per cent of young people aged 15 to 24 years old who are online globally, and called for concerted action to tackle and prevent violence against children and young people online. In the Pacific islands, a Tonga government survey in 2017 showed that 42 per cent of adolescents and youth experienced cruelty and mean behaviour online, with 59 per cent of those being females.Premium content -
