Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Some of the police officers who were on duty on the night Kali Fungavaka was arrested and allegedly beaten up in detention, have given their evidence at the Nuku'alofa Magistrate's Court. One witness alleged one of the accused officers stood on his chest while another choked the victim on the neck, as he was being searched inside the Nuku'alofa Central Police Station on the night of August 17, 2012. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : The prosecution closed its case in regards to the Preliminary Inquiry into the death of New Zealand Police officer Kali Fungavaka this afternoon and submitted there is a case for trial at the Supreme Court in Nuku'alofa. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : A forensic pathologist from New Zealand who conducted a post-mortem examination on Kali Fungavaka's body, believed that the cause of death was a huge blunt force trauma to the head.
