    : The COVID-19 vaccination will not turn people into zombies, change their DNA or put magnets into their arms. “I hope people will take note that some information circulating is just ridiculous,” said Tonga's Ministry of Health CEO, Dr Siale ‘Akau‘ola yesterday. “The problem is lots of misinformation on social media causes people to be confused,” he said.

    : Fiji has recorded 505 new cases of COVID-19 over a 24-hour period ending at 8:00am on August 31. There have also been seven new deaths from the virus, which has now claimed 496 lives in Fiji. However, new cases are falling from Fiji's highest daily average peak reported on July 22.

    : Vola Tuaimeitu’a (59) has been found not guilty and acquitted on charges relating to the importation of firearms without a license. The firearms were seized in a crate, which arrived from the United States in January, 2020. The judge said "The defendant did everything in his power to get a licence in a timely way.”
