Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Tonga's Police Commissioner Grant O'Fee said that the cause of death of New Zealand Police officer Kali Fungavaka in Tonga would be determined by an autopsy to be completed in New Zealand, and the report expected at the end of the week would assist a Tonga police enquiry.Premium content

Dunedin, New Zealand : I was shocked and saddened to read the news that a New Zealand Police Officer has died after an incident in the Police cells at Nuku'alofa Police Station. Annually more than 786,000 tonnes of fish are illegally taken from the Pacific and its tuna fisheries are in danger of being over exploited. “The Pacific Ocean unites all the countries in the region,” said Marea Hatziolos, Senior Coastal and Marine Specialist for the World Bank. “Tremendous progress has been achieved regionally in fisheries agreements and conservation, but the battle is not yet won. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : The World Bank and the Government of Tonga today signed a US$2.9 million grant agreement to implement the Tonga Energy Road Map, which will improve the access, efficiency and cost of energy for Tonga’s 104,000 people. The Government of Australia, through the Pacific Region Infrastructure Facility, is contributing US$2.5 million of the total grant, according to a press statement by the World Bank today.Premium content
