    : Nausaimone Kitekei’aho, a man in his 50s, who was convicted of possession of 3,800 grams illicit drug cannabis and bribery of a Tongan Police officer, will be sentenced on 31 August at the Nuku'alofa Supreme Court. This was a case where the marijuana and photographs of it were lost by police - but neither the defence nor prosecution made much of it.

    : Australian Police this week are appealing to the public to help locate a missing person, Amelia Toa Hausia, of Tongan descent, who was last seen at a Canberra shopping mall on December 22, 1992. Australian Police, who require positive identification to confirm if she is still alive, are making the appeal drive as part of their annual “Missing Persons Week”.

    : Both His Majesty’s Armed Forces (HMAF) and Tonga Police confirmed today that they were not involved in a massive cocaine seizure by the French navy from a yacht "off Tongan waters" in recent days. French media reported today that over 1.4 tonnes of cocaine was seized from a sailing boat.
