Congratulations to 'Amelia
Congratulations to 'Amelia Tupou Veiongo Fa'otusia for an incredible achievement. And to her famili, friends, supporters and especially her parents. What an incredible Mother's Day present for her mother.
Mother's Day is an appropriate occasion to celebrate the many talented, intelligent and educated young (and older) women coming to the fore (as leaders in
Tonga and the wider Pacific). It is also an appropriate to remember and celebrate the life of the women that have passed on and the mothers who continue to organise the daily meals for their families, clean the house, counsel and prepare children to go to school, sometimes provide care for the elderly and help their partners get ready for work. And some women do this before they themselves go to work!
One wonders how our mothers did all this in the days when there were no corner shop to go to for the bread, no refrigerators, home appliances, food markets, limited phone service, public transport etc and go to work and manage the home (including helping the men) - in fact the home managers be home managers, cooks, cleaners, counsellors, and that to serve their country and the wider Pacific Tonga Tongans like 'Amelia.
Thank you Matangi Tonga for the inspiring story of the achievement of 'Amelia Tupou Veiongo Fa'otusia and her family.
