It is extremely sad that whilst our tiny island kingdom is regarded as a Christian country that these sad misfortunes occur. It is about time that a national dialogue be convened to construct a road map and national strategies to ensure young girls' safety are protected. We usually believe that Christian teachings and a good education would help solve these problems but they seem not to work and these acts are increasing day in, day out. Can police and the judiciary provide us with relevant information regarding similar offences committed in the last ten years? Can they provide some information as to the driving force behind these barbaric acts? Is it alcohol? Is it drugs? We need to know the main causes. Is it time that our lawmakers seriously think about the laws that protect our people. I know that we have laws but do they work? Do they deter young and old people to refrain from committing these satanic acts? Our young girls are becoming extremely unsafe in our little island of 100,000. Are we to say that we cannot put an end to these problems? Are we to say that our society has accepted that these acts are here to stay? A society that does not put the safety and happiness of its people above everything else should think twice about its laws, law enforcers and judiciary.
