    : On World Press Freedom Day May 3, Tonga's Attorney General Neil Adsett told journalists in Nuku'alofa that while Tonga's Constitution guarantees Freedom of Speech and Press Freedom, there remains in the Constitution two other conflicting sub-clauses, inserted by an amendment in 2003, which are partly void and should be changed so that it is not misleading.

    : Combating human trafficking in the Pacific islands was the focus of a three day regional workshop held from April 23-25 in Nadi, Fiji. The workshop was organised by the United States Embassy based in Suva who invited the participation of 27 legal officials, prosecutors, customs and immigration officers from Tonga, the Cook Islands, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.

    : An appeal by an American couple who were not granted the adoption of a six-year Tongan boy last year but were granted the adoption of his one-year-old half sister was dismissed by Tonga's Appeal Court on April 17.
