    THERE will be no changes to terms that Tonga agreed to in its accession to the World Trade Organisation WTO, according to Paulo Kautoke, the Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Commerce and Industries.

    Paulo said that during the six-months ratification period, which ends on July 31, 2006 the Ministry would be conducting WTO awareness workshops, to educate the people on WTO and to make them aware of what WTO would do for Tonga.

    : A US Peace Corps Volunteer, Tessa Horan (24), died in Vava'u yesterday evening, February 1 after losing a leg in a tragic shark attack in the water off the village of Tu'anuku. Pesalili Kailahi, the Neiafu Police Commander, said that the attack took place about 6 pm but the police were not notified until about 8 pm.

    : I am dismayed to hear recent reports that the Tongan people have yet to receive a response from the King regarding the status of the reform process. I understand the process of reforming the Constitution can be lengthy, and maybe the People's deadline was a little too early, (although some say the King has had decades to make this change), or maybe the King's medical condition has made progress slow. However, that is no excuse to not let the Tongan people know the status of the process in plain terms. - John Maloney
