Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Ex-Tropical Cyclone Mal has moved away from Tongan waters. Tonga Met reported that the cyclone system located to the southwest of Tonga had weakened to a low pressure, yesterday and will no longer directly affect Tonga. Previous gale warnings for Tele-ki-Tonga and Tele-ki-Tokelau coastal waters have since been downgraded to strong wind warnings. -

A strong wind warning and small craft advisory remains in force for Tongatapu and 'Eua coastal waters, stated the Fua'amotu Tropical Cyclone Centre advisory at 1:00pm today, Wednesday 15 November. -

Nuku'alofa, Tonga : United Kingdom Minister of State for Indo-Pacific, Rt. Hon. Anne-Marie Trevelyan arrived in Tonga last night, for her first ministerial visit since the British High Commission in Tonga re-opened in 2020. Minister Trevelyan participated in the 52nd Pacific Island Forum Dialogue Partners Day, last week, in Rarotonga. “It was a really effective meeting,” she said. -

Nuku'alofa, Tonga : A team of NRL talent agents from a New Zealand sports management agency, is currently in Tongatapu, meeting and attending training with students from different secondary schools. During their short visit, two students from Tupou College Toloa were offered Rugby League scholarships to study and play in New Zealand.
