    : The popular beachfront at Popua in the capital, Nuku'alofa, is looking cleaner today, thanks to a group of university students from New Zealand who decided to spend their last day in Tonga picking up rubbish. The group of 15 young women from throughout New Zealand, led by Leata Loelu, have spent a fortnight in Tonga engaging in community services.

    : The Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) received the Commonwealth Secretary-General’s Innovation for Sustainable Development Awards 2023 in Nairobi, Kenya on Monday 27 November, for its project, the "Pacific Sustainable Tourism Policy Framework (PSTPF) 2030."     : Two Police officers, Penitiketo Latu and Taliai Tapueluelu, were found guilty of causing serious bodily harm to a young soldier (19), whom they kicked on the mouth, fracturing his jaw using their police boots, as he lay defenceless and unconscious, on the floor of the Neiafu Police Station, in Vava’u in 2021.

    : The Japan International Cooperation Agency’s (JICA) volunteer program, known as (JOCV) Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers, celebrated 50 years of service in Tonga on 23 November, with a function at the Tanoa Hotel. A total of 568 volunteers have served in Tonga, and four volunteers are currently in-country.

    : Domestic rainwater tanks are often contaminated and unsafe to drink if not managed and cleaned regularly, a recent study has shown. Conducted by Tonga's Ministry of Health, Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, and the Asian Development Bank, the study found drinking water is often contaminated with E. coli.

    : Four participants of the Tonga cohort of the 2023 Pacific Greenpreneurs Program graduated today, with two recipients awarded total funds of USD$55,000 (approximately TOP $130,000). Mr Masa Kawaguchi, director of South Pacific Mozuku Ltd, a growth-stage green enterprise in Tonga, was awarded a USD $50,000 zero-interest repayable grant. Mrs Lu'isa Nau, owner of Culture Fusion Tonga, winner of the Business Plan competition, was awarded USD $5,000 for an innovative business model.

    : The artist who loved Tonga, Sune Egan, passed away peacefully in Forster, NSW, Australia, on Sunday 19 November, five months after her 93rd birthday. Sune's paintings of Tongan people and scenery on tapa cloth, created over three decades from 1975, captured a nostalgic landscape and people with a simpler way of life than the Tonga of today.
